Why see David Byrne?

Who Is The Sky? Tour!

Former Talking Heads frontman and all-around excellent human David Byrne graces us with an ambitious new tour in support of his latest record, 'Who Is the Sky?'. Produced by Kid Harpoon - known for his work with Harry Styles and Miley Cyrus - and arranged by New York's own Ghost Train Orchestra, it's his first solo release since 2018's American Utopia. In typical Byrne style, expect a spectacle that combines his musicianship, artistry, and delightfully off-beat nature as he presents favorites old and new in this highly anticipated new era.

Starting this September, Byrne will hit the road with a 13-person band made up of musicians, singers, and dancers - many of them familiar faces from the American Utopia live show. As always, the stage will be in constant motion, filled with the same inventive energy that made his last tour a global sensation (and a Broadway smash, thanks to Spike Lee's HBO film).

A leader of the New Wave scene in the late '70s and early '80s, Byrne has enjoyed enduring success first with Talking Heads and then as a solo artist, filmmaker, photographer, activist, and writer. A friend of Bowie and collaborator with Brian Eno (who featured on American Utopia's lead single "Everybody's Coming to My House"), his perpetual zeal for creating has cemented him as a true auteur an icon of the modern age.

Don't miss this very good reason to be cheerful when Byrne rolls into town in 2025!

Ecstasy

This 70 year old took his 21 year old daughter to the Santa Barbara Bowl expecting to see and hear something that would blow us away. Having seen David 4 other times including Stop Making Sense I was hoping this wouldn’t just be another “hit parade” just rolling out old tunes while filtering in new material. It wasn’t. In my 50 years of music concerts this was probably the most artistic concert I have ever attended. Like a runaway train this show never stopped. Several times my daughter and I would just shake our heads at the creative energy we were watching, and dancing too. The next morning we felt the same and found ourselves singing “Home” over and over. It is still ringing in my head. Both of us thought this wasn’t just a concert, but theatre like and we often felt we were watching a musical, INDEED ONE OF THE MOST CREATIVE AND ENJOYABLE SHOWS THIS OLD HIPPY HAS EVER SEEN AND WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. I’m still smiling by the way. ... Read more
